Materials: 1 small rectangular chip wood basket; 1 can of quick drying dark green spray paint; 1 yard of 7/8 inch wide gold fabric ribbon; 32 foam peel and stick white snow flakes in assorted sizes (Or you can use a snow flake template and foam sheets to make your own); 2 medium size red velvet holiday bows. Total cost of materials = $10.00

(Don't forget that you'll likely have materials leftover that you can use on future craft projects, which ultimately would put your supply costs per craft project at less than $10.)

Tools: Newspaper, paper paint spray mask, scissors and glue suitable for adhering fabric to wood. paper rope Basket

Instructions:

Step 1: Dust the storage basket. Make sure it is dry. Then in an open ventilated space such as outside, spread out some newspapers, put on your paint mask and spray the entire basket with dark green spray paint. You may want to spray the outside bottom first, let it dry and then turn it over to do the remainder. Follow the directions on the spray paint can which suggest using a sweeping motion. Apply as many coats as you like. With quick drying spray paint, each coat dries in less than 15 minutes. One coat of green spray paint was applied to this basket along with spot touch up on a few areas that lacked total coverage. No primer coat was used.

Step 2: Measure the entire rim of your storage basket and cut your fabric ribbon length to this size. Then glue it to the outside of the rim doing just an inch at a time. Start and end near the handle (or handles if you prefer to glue the ribbon in two separate halves) where part of the red bow will cover this section. (If the width of the ribbon, which starts at the top of the rim on this basket, is too wide for your taste, you can cut it with scissors.) I used ultra clear drying paper craft glue to glue the ribbon to the rim. It adhered and dried slow on the wood, allowing adequate time for smearing it around with the nozzle tip so that the glue lay flat under the ribbon (versus clumps which would have showed). (Experiment with your glue in an inconspicuous place on the basket.) Press the ribbon in a smooth motion into the glue placed on the basket rim and adjust the ribbon to where you want it to lay. Allow the glue to dry before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Adhere the snowflake foam shapes across the solid wood areas of all sides of the basket. wood basket (These were applied in two horizontal rows with large snowflakes on the bottom row and smaller snowflakes on the top row.)

Step 4: Attach a red holiday bow to the bottom outside of the handle on each side, ensuring that it covers the fabric ribbon start and stop points if they're visible. (These bows have gold wire garland attached but if yours don't, use green floral wire, glue and/or green or gold pipe cleaners cut to an appropriate size to fasten the bows.)

Step 5: Fill the basket with your favorite holiday CD's.
